One of the most common reasons lingerie feels uncomfortable isn't the lingerie at all — it's the fit. Survey after survey suggests most women are wearing the wrong bra size. The good news? You can measure yourself accurately at home in under five minutes. Here's exactly how.
What You'll Need
A soft measuring tape, a mirror, and an unpadded bra (or no bra at all). That's it.
Step 1: Measure Your Band Size
Wrap the measuring tape around your ribcage, directly under your bust, keeping it snug and level with the floor. Round to the nearest even number — this is your band size (for example, 32, 34, or 36).
Step 2: Measure Your Bust
Measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape relaxed and parallel to the floor. Don't pull it tight.
Step 3: Calculate Your Cup Size
Subtract your band measurement from your bust measurement. Each inch of difference equals one cup size: 1 inch = A, 2 = B, 3 = C, 4 = D, 5 = DD/E, and so on.
Karina's Fit Tips
- If you're between sizes, try going down a band and up a cup — most women wear a band that's too loose.
- The band should do most of the supporting work and sit level around your body, not ride up your back.
- Re-measure every 6–12 months; your size can shift with weight, hormones, and time.
